the 68th Tokyo Traditional Crafts Fair at Takashimaya Shinjuku Store.
This fair will features crafts displays, sales.
Please take this opportunity to touch the traditional crafts of Tokyo,
feeling it closely to the daily use, and to see various techniques which
have been inherited from generation to generation by craftsmen.

Booth Tour
During the event, booth tours will be held every day.
You can talk to the craftsmen who are demonstrating their craftsmanship.
A guide who can speak English will be provided, so international visitors are also welcome!
How to Join: Please make a reservation in advance or register at the Information corner on the 11th floor.
・Time: From 12:00. and from 15:00, every day from Wednesday, January 15th to Monday, January 20th.
・Content: You can visit four or five booths at the Tokyo Traditional Crafts Fair, talk with the craftsmen putting on demonstrations and see introductions of crafts and the skills of the craftsmen.
・Duration: about 60 min. guided times
・Capacity: 8 people
Traditional Japanese Shamisen music
A series of Nagauta performances featuring musicians from the Nagauta Association will be held daily.
Enjoy the elegant melodies of early spring.
・Time:12:30, 14:00, 15:30, 17:00(about 20 min.)
・Location:Stage beside Tokyo Shamisen and Tokyo Koto Booths inside the venue.

Touon Katore Tsuzuki
Graduated from the Traditional Japanese Music Department in the Faculty of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts, majoring in nagauta shamisen. Studied shamisen under Kohdai Minoda of Touon and nagauta under Kazuhiko Nishigaki of Touon, then went on to teach music at elementary and junior high schools.

Chotatsuro Imafuji
A nagauta shamisen player.
Graduated from the Traditional Japanese Music Department in the Faculty of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts, majoring in nagauta shamisen in 1991, and received the Japan Traditional Cultures Foundation Award in 2005.
Mainly performs at the Kabukiza, the National Theatre, Kioi Hall, etc.
Plays classical pieces and also performs in collaboration with koto and Western instruments. Also actively composes and has created many works. Part-time lecturer at Kunitachi College of Music. -
Tatsujuro Imafuji
A nagauta shamisen player.
Granted the name in the fall of 2020 by the 4th head of the Imafuji-ryu (school), Chojuro Imafujii.
Graduated from the Traditional Japanese Music Department in the Faculty of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2023. Received the Nagauta Touon-kai Award while a student. Studied nagauta shamisen under Gokichiro Kineya and hayashi under Chiho Tosha. Has appeared in kabuki performances at the Kabukiza Theater and Nakamuraya Tour, as well as dance recitals and concerts at the National Theater and Asakusa Public Hall, and is expanding the scope of his performances to include collaborations with Western instruments and the koto.

The sixth head of the Nagauta Kineya school, whose primary goal is to popularize and develop nagauta shamisen music using the shamisen tablature notation system established by Yashichi Kineie IV.

Yasuke Kineie II
Born in Tokyo in 1974 as the second son of Yashichi Kineie VI.
Studied nagauta under Shotaro Kashiwa and Naoaki Akagi of Touon, and hayashi under Kisaku Katada. Allowed to use the name Kisuke Katada. Graduated from the Traditional Japanese Music Department in the Faculty of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1996. Received the Jōkan Award while still a student. Currently, in addition to teaching nagauta, also gives classes at junior and senior high schools, and performs mainly at theaters in Tokyo.

Eikayou Kineya
Studied under Ijuro Yoshimura VIII.
A member of the Nagauta Association, Kineei-kai, and the Association for Showing Children Traditional Japanese Culture.
Performs at regular concerts by the Nagauta Association, Kineei-kai, and Horidome-kai, along with other concerts and dance performances. Also takes part in theatre and recitation performances as a musician. -
Eikaho Kineya
Studied under Ijuro Yoshimura VIII and Eijiro Kineya III.
A member of the Nagauta Association and the Kineei-kai.

Asakichi Kineya
Asakichi Kineya IV
A nagauta shamisen performer.
Has combined his experience since his first performance at the age of three in a variety of genres with the traditions passed down from generation to generation to develop his own unique playing style, musical theory, and teaching method. Remains committed to the classics in order to convey the true Edo to the present day, but also performs everything from improvisation to songwriting with just his shamisen and is currently active in a wide range of fields, including live acoustic performances, collaborations with other genres, and participation in theatrical productions. -
Sakio Kineya
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. Half Japanese and fourth generation Japanese descendant. Started learning Japanese dance at the age of four (Hanayagi Dancing Academy Hawaiʻi Foundation). Began studying under Sakichi Kineya VII, head of the Nagauta Samon-kai, at the age of 15. Teaches nagauta and Japanese dance to foreigners in Hawaii and Tokyo with the aim of spreading Japanese traditional performing arts overseas.

During the event, a stamp rally will be held to visit each traditional craft booth.
Visitors can see, hear, and touch traditional crafts and collect stamps to receive prizes.
