Daichi Kurihara

After studying clothing design as a university student, Mr. Kurihara made his way into the world of the picture frame artisan. Taking on the leading role of painting images onto frames, he discovered similarities with designing the kind of clothing that appeals to people. Drawn in by the profundity of the craft, he became a full-fledged artisan with his own style, capable of a multitude of shadings to his works—all through a process of trial-and-error. He works hard to teach as many people as possible about these Edo Period techniques dating back 150 years.
